Rick Ridgeway is Patagonia’s Vice President of Environmental Affairs. A leader in the outdoor and travel apparel market, Patagonia is renowned for its environmental and social responsibility and has a strong track record of giving back.
As a mountaineer and adventurer, he has also been an environmentalist, writer, filmmaker and businessman. Ridgeway has climbed new routes and explored little-known regions on six continents. He was part of the 1978 team that were the first Americans to summit K2, the world's second-highest mountain. Over the years he has written six books and produced 30 documentaries, one that won an Emmy.
During his 15-year tenure at Patagonia, Ridgeway has developed and launched environmental and sustainability initiatives including Freedom to Roam, the Footprint Chronicles, the Responsible Economy Campaign and Worn Wear. He also was founding chairman of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, which is the largest apparel, footwear and home textile trade organization in the world.
